Wrap It!!
I love most, if not all, things vintage. So when I came across the fabrics I used for my collection of wrap dresses, I was elated. Carefully chosen fabrics paired with a timeless dress design, gives you a one-of-a-kind classic. The wrap dress developed by Diane Von Furstenberg, transcends time, age, and class. If you are a lover of unique dresses then you will love my wrap dresses. Below is a picture of me in my favorite, one-of-a-kind dress paired with two of my handmade snakeskin bangles. Enjoy!
West Harlem Art Fund, Inc.
Not everyone needs a great cause to donate to or to fight for, but if you are that person; I just may have found a great cause, and not-for-profit, for you. The West Harlem Art Fund, Inc. is a ten year old community-based, cultural arts and preservation organization founded by Savona Bailey-McClain. The WHAF offers opportunities for artists and creative professionals to showcase their work with uptown residents.
On October 18th the WHAF launched the Hallelujah Festival which offers a visual feast to the West Harlem community. This festival includes a “Pop-Up” Boutique and four window installations in several locations in West Harlem. I am a vendor at the “Pop-Up” Boutique along with several other designers. This weekend will be the last weekend (Saturday, November 8th & Sunday, November 9th) to enjoy this one-of-a-kind work that Ms. Bailey-McClain has worked tirelessly to feature in the West Harlem community. So if you are an art-lover and love handmade and one-of-a-kind clothing and accessories, come on out and show your support.

Dedication or just a bit crazy?
Although some would see it as a bit crazy, I see it as an artistic representation, which translates into true love for one’s passion. Back in September, while vending, I met this young lady who was a design student at Pratt in Brooklyn. I saw her tattoo and immediately fell in love with it, so much so that I had to take a pic. When asked about why she did it, she simply stated that she wanted something unique and a tattoo that meant something to her. I see no better way to represent your love for your passion. However, considering I am not one to subject myself to the pain of needle pricks, unless it is truly necessary (i.e. blood test at doctor’s office, etc.) I see no reason to broadcast my love of fashion this way. But, to each his/her own!
“O”
Everyday I pass the New York Academy of Art on my brisk walk to the train, to get home. Everyday I glance into the display windows to see what wonderful treat the students have completed and subsequently have up for public display. Well to my surprise I did find a rear treat about a month or so ago. Although the purpose of the artists’ work is a bit grim, I just simply love the work that he did. Ok so I say all of that to say that…I came upon “The Oprah Burial Mask, 2008″. I don’t like the “Burial Mask” part of the title so much, so I have renamed it just simply “O”. I love Oprah for the self-made queen that she is, and I love this gold representation of her.
